The Women’s International Match Racing Series (WIM Series) management team has taken the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 WIM Series as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The many uncertainties created by the COVID-19 pandemic have made it impossible to hold a fair and complete series this year with full international participation. We anticipate that the WIM Series will be back as strong as ever in 2021.
Shortly, World Sailing will make the official announcement that the 2020 Women’s Match Racing World Championship, scheduled to take place in Auckland, New Zealand in November 2020, will be canceled. But the good news is that the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron has been awarded the 2021 WMRWC and it is scheduled for November 2021.
In the meantime, the Ligue de Voile de Normandie is continuing its preparations for the 2020 Normandie Match Cup, although it will not be a WIM Series event this year, while closely monitoring developments with COVID-19 and following the advice and guidance from the World Health Organisation and the Fédération Française de Voile.
