Having recently advanced to second place on the ISAF World Ranking, the 33 years old Ekaterina Skudina is aiming even higher. She began sailing in an Optimist at the Pirogovo Lake near Moscow, where she learned a lot about getting the most out of shifty wind conditions. Ekaterina has a PhD from the Moscow State University STANKIN, and when she is not working or sailing she plays the piano. She won her first World Championship already in 1998, and was voted Russian sailor of the year 2009 – 2012.
