At the 2012 London Olympics Tamara Echegoyen and her crew won the gold medals after five thrilling races in the final against Olivia Price, Australia. She lives in Pontevedra on the western Spanish Atlantic coast, where she began sailing in an Optimist when six years old, at home club Real Club Nautico Vigo. After a dinghy career in Laser Radial and 470, Tamara started her Olympic campaign in 2010, taking the European Championship title the year after. She is also a double National Champion.
