Checking In With The New World University Champion

The WIM Series checked in with Annabel Vose (Great Britain), skipper of Team Vose – Glamour Match Racing, who recently won the 7th World University Match Racing Championship on Lago de Ledro, Italy.

WIMSeries: Annabel, congratulations on your recent win in Italy. Could you tell us what you like most about the event?

AV: Sailing on Lago de Ledro is absolutely beautiful surrounded by the mountains, this gave us very tricky sailing condition where 90 degree shifts were the norm. The organisation of the regatta was fantastic, catering for many teams on shore and on the water. The racing was run very well with the girls sailing on UFO22’s (which are faster than the boys’ J22’s, so pretty cool) and the standard of racing and umpiring was excellent.

WIMSeries: How will you use this experience as you move on to your next event?

AV: This was our 2nd Match Racing World Champions where we raced against other young sailors and we had really close racing against all the competitors engaging in new situations. We are excited to put our new skills to the test at our next WIM Series event in Vannes.

WIMSeries: Looking ahead, what do you most look forward about the WIM Series?

AV: Bringing the skills and experiences we have learnt from the WUC forward to the WIM Series events to progress our team even further. We are attending the next WIM Series event in Vannes and are hoping to secure an entry for the Busan Cup in Korea.

WIMSeries: Great, thanks, Annabel, and good luck later this month in Vannes!
