2015 Women’s Match Racing World Championship – Going to Denmark!
The 2015 ISAF Women’s Match Racing World Championship to be held in Middelfart in 2015! It was decided after a round of presentations in Oman in November 2013. Match Racing Denmark, in close cooperation with Sport Event Denmark and Danish Sailing Association will host the event in July 2015. The world elite coming to Denmark – The appointment means that the absolute world elite in female match race coming to Denmark in 2015, explains Søren Mathiesen Laugesen, Match Racing Denmark’s Regatta, Event and Partner Manager. – It is important for us to attract world championship to strengthen Danish sailing and focus on our sport. Sporty and communicative performance justifies the choice Match Racing Denmark was up against four other bidders, namely 1 ) Szczecin – Swinoujscie in Poland, 2) Long Beach, California, USA, 3) Lysekil in Sweden and 4) Sheboygan, Wisconsin, USA. Every time we hold an event, we get more training in it. For example, we held the European Championship in match racing in 2009 and the prestigious ISAF Nations Cup 2013 Grand Final in August 2013, as many of you recall. With 17 match race boats and more than 5,000 cruise guests annually Match Racing Denmark today the leading and largest match racing center with more than 30,000 cruise guests since 2005. The center was established in close cooperation between the sailing clubs in Horsens, Vejle, Fredericia, Middelfart and Kolding to strengthen Danish sailing. Match Racing Denmark was established in 1996 and has conducted hundreds of events and rallies.
