Skipper - Janel Zarkowsky – USA
Team: Janel Zarkowsky – skipper, Isabelle Ruiz de Luzuriaga – main/tactic, Katie Olsen – trimmer, Rose Edwards – bow
Team As One is a newly formed team of graduates from Georgetown University (Washington D.C.), making their WIM Series debut at the 2018 Carlos Aguilar Match Race in St. Thomas. Skipper Zarkowsky is in her seventh season coaching the Georgetown University varsity sailing team with numerous Collegiate National Championship titles achieved in both fleet and match racing.
Skipper Zarkowsky, however, is not new to the WIM Series. She competed on the WIM Series from 2013-2016 as bowman for Team Epic Racing with skipper Stephanie Roble. Team Epic Racing won the WIM Series title in 2015. Since 2016, Zarkowsky has been helming match races in the US with both female and open crew. Her top finishes include 4th at the U.S. Open Match Racing Championship and 2nd at the U.S. Women’s Match Racing Championship.
Zarkowsky is very excited to return to the WIM Series as a skipper and hopes to use this team as a platform to get female college sailors into the sport of match racing.
